Held, Heard, and Empowered in Birth
Preparing to welcome a baby can bring excitement. And it can also come with a lot of questions. Will I know what to do? Will I feel heard? What if things don’t go as planned? These thoughts are more common than most parents admit.
Working with a doula provides continuous emotional, physical, informational, and advocacy support throughout pregnancy and labor. Research shows that having a doula can reduce the likelihood of cesarean birth by up to 47%, decrease medical interventions, and increase overall satisfaction with the birth experience. Beyond statistics, a doula helps you understand your options, ask informed questions, and feel confident creating space for a birth that feels supported, respected, and empowering.

Welcome! I’m Courtney, a Massachusetts doula, patient advocate, and mom who has experienced both hospital and home birth firsthand.
I believe you deserve a positive, empowered birth experience. One where you feel heard, respected, and supported every step of the way whether we are in your home or at a hospital. I’m here to safeguard that experience with you. I bring 15 years of patient advocacy and a deep belief that you know your body better than anyone else in the room. Your instincts are ancient, powerful, and worthy of being heard. The sacred and the clinical are not opposites. I live in both worlds to give you the level of support that you want.
Please reach out with any questions, I would love to hear from you.

“Navigating a natural birth in a hospital is no small feat, and Courtney was the major reason my 25 hour labor went beautifully, despite a few persistent doctors along the way! We had our birth plan written out ahead of time, and Courtney knew it like the back of her hand. She also knew statistics and methods that impressed the midwives at the hospital and she knew amazing techniques for the excruciating back labor pains I experienced.”

FAQs

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, informational, and advocacy support during pregnancy, labor, and birth. She ensures you have dedicated, one-on-one support in hospital, birth center, or home birth settings. And helps you understand your options, navigate conversations with providers, and feel steady and supported in moments that can otherwise feel overwhelming.

Research shows that continuous labor support from a doula can reduce the likelihood of cesarean birth by 47%, decrease medical interventions, shorten labor, and increase overall satisfaction with the birth experience. Many parents also report feeling more empowered and confident in their decision-making.
-
No. A doula works alongside your medical team. Your OB-GYN or midwife provides clinical care, while your doula focuses entirely on your comfort, emotional well-being, and advocacy throughout pregnancy and labor. One of their main roles is to help you weigh out options to make informed choices that are best for you and your family.
-
Yes. Many families hire a doula specifically for hospital births. A doula helps you navigate hospital procedures, understand your choices, and communicate clearly with your care team so you feel heard and respected.
-
Most families hire a doula during the second trimester, but you can reach out at any point in your pregnancy. Early support allows more time to build trust, discuss your birth preferences, and prepare together.
-
Absolutely. A doula supports both the birthing parent and their partner by offering guidance, reassurance, and practical tools so partners can feel confident and involved without carrying the full weight of support alone. Your birthing partner will feel more confident in supporting you with a doula involved.
